Polyurethane, or "urethane", is an elastomeric material with outstanding properties & wear characteristics.
* Superior cut and abrasion resistance
* Ability to "self-heal"
* Can be formulated to possess specific properties (i.e. co-efficient of friction, resiliency & compression set can be formulated high or low)
* Excellent resistance to ozone and aging
* Can be molded and bonded to a variety of substrates
* Resistance to many oils & solvents
* Lightwieght
* Outstanding low temperature properties
Bailey-Parks makes Urethane Tougher
Urethane is a generic term. "How" this urethane is manufactured and fabricated determines how effective it is in a specific application. to assume that all urethane has the same properties or price is like assuming that all cars are the same.
In addition, there are many "types" of polyurethane. For instance:
* Thermoset castable elastomers - These are the materials that Bailey-Parks manufactures.
* Foams (flexible/rigid) - rigid foams are used in applications such as insulating, while flexible foams are used in upholstery 7 cushioning. For foam applications call:
Foamex (800) 767-4997
Poly-pig (713) 222-0146
*Adhesives/sealants - used in applications for sealing cracks and crevasses. There are two-part urethane systems that can be mixed at room temperatures to meet this type of need.
* Thermoplastics - This type of material is fully reacted and processed by melting and extruding, or injection molding. For thermoplastic applications call:
Millable gums - Processed similarly to rubber, in that they are fabricated on rubber machinery are are cured by vulcanizing processes with peroxides, or in some cases, with sulfur.
Coatings - used in many applications, such as varnishes and paint. Also used for spray coatings/linings that serve to protect the surface of machinery and equipment.
Speak the language
When you call Bailey-Parks for a quote on thermoset castable urethane, one of the first things that we will ask you is "durometer". The durometer of the material is the measure of hardness, or simply how much pressure that it takes to make an impression in the material. Our type of urethane is most commonly measured against two durometers. "A shore" measure the softer "rubbery" types of urethane. "D shore" measures the harder "rigid" types of urethanes
*Lessen down time in process operations
*Lower tooling and equipment costs for small production runs
Why use urethane instead of other materials?

It is possible to purchase a less expensive urethane than Bailey-Parks', but you may sacrifice the quality, durability, & service that comes with every product we offer. with urethane, same as most things in life, you get what you pay for.
